Dr. Yunus' request to move EU visa center from Delhi,

Principal Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has requested to move the visa centers of the European Union member states for Bangladeshis from Delhi to Dhaka or any other neighboring country. He discussed this issue in a meeting with EU diplomats.

The meeting was held at the office of the Principal Advisor in Tejgaon, capital Dhaka, at 12 noon on Monday. Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain was present at the meeting, as well as the 19-member EU delegation led by the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, Michael Miller.

In the meeting, which lasted about two and a half hours, 15 representatives presented their views on various important issues. During this time, discussions were held on labor rights, trade facilitation, climate change, human rights, the International Criminal Tribunal Act, Rohingya repatriation and the commitments and actions of both sides to build a sustainable future.

The Chief Advisor mentioned at the conference that we celebrate victory throughout the month of December, and he was very happy to have such a discussion in the month of victory.

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid tribute to the martyrs and injured in the July-August uprising in Bangladesh. He highlighted various aspects of the oppression, exploitation, enforced disappearances and human rights violations that took place during that 16 years. He discussed the economic white paper for the diplomats, explaining how corruption, money laundering and the banking system have been disrupted.

The Chief Advisor mentioned that widespread misinformation is being spread against Bangladesh and he called on diplomats to help prevent this misinformation. He said that the dictator Sheikh Hasina and her associates, who fled the country in the July uprising, have laundered a huge amount of money, which is being used to destabilize the country.

He also discussed the process of exchanging views with representatives of all political parties and religious communities in Bangladesh for the purpose of national unity. In addition, he presented detailed information about the interim government's reforms and electoral process to the EU representatives.

In the meeting, the Chief Advisor requested the ambassadors to shift the visa center for Bangladeshis from Delhi to Dhaka or another neighboring country. He mentioned that due to India's visa restrictions for Bangladeshis, many students are unable to go to Delhi to get visas for Europe, as a result of which their educational life is heading towards uncertainty. Bangladeshi students are not getting admission opportunities in European universities. If the visa office is shifted to Dhaka or a neighboring country, both Bangladesh and the European Union will benefit from it.

Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain, who was present at the meeting, said that Bulgaria has already shifted its visa center for Bangladesh to Indonesia and Vietnam, and he urged other countries to take the same step.

The EU representatives expressed full support for the reform process and promised to stand by it with advice and recommendations to build a new Bangladesh.
